2 Couples Explain How To Have A Budget-Friendly Wedding

In September of 2014, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) found out that it costs $36,200 for a wedding to be done in Australia. Some publications have estimated more up to $65,000.

Money expert from Finder.com.au, Michelle Hutchison says that expensive gifts and props for bridal parties to professional photos and decorations can blow out the budget. She adds that weddings need not be an opulent affair as sometimes, the simplest ones are the most special. Her own 2009 wedding only cost $9,000. She shopped for everything herself and thought that when she could do it cheaper, she did.

The $17,000 wedding

The couple is Lauren and James. They got married on December 22, 2010 at All Smiles Café in Sorrento with 80 guests. Their original budget was $15,000 but spent $16,880. In order for them to keep the costs down, they did a cocktail style wedding. It was not too expensive and less formal. They wanted it to be a party style kind of event. They also had their wedding on a Wednesday.

They splurged on the dress for $3,000. They also rented a double decker bus to bring their guests from Melbourne and back. They did so because it was where they met in London.

The $10,000 wedding

The couple is Geri and Casey. They got married on March 21, 2015 at Teavine House in Tallebudgerra Valley with 50 guests. Their original budget was $12,000 but spent $10,000.

In order for them to keep the costs down, they cut the things which were overdone, cliché and tacky. They had the photographer at their venue for 2 hours. They didn’t want photos while getting ready or leaving the venue for 2 hours worth of wedding photos.

They also didn’t rent a special car to get to the venue. They advise to find a wedding venue with options for canapé and bring-your-own alcohol. They also had lawn games which were cheap to hire, fun and got people to mingle.

Conclusion

With numerous companies that have a party, table, chair or Marquee for Hire in Melbourne and in the rest of Australia, it is already possible to make a wedding budget-friendly. What is important is to know what one wants and to find the best deals around.
