Michelin Guidebook To Include Phuket And PhangNga

Michelin is actually a French tire manufacturer that gained more popularity from the Michelin stars that it awards to restaurants all over the world for their cooking. In Thailand Michelin star cuisine is served at the best restaurant in Chiang Mai in addition to the delicious food on order and a variety of lip smacking cocktails.

In the second Michelin guide to Thailand, Phuket and PhangNga will be included in addition to Bangkok that was awarded with the first Michelin starred restaurant late last year. Michelin’s expanding presence in Thailand will contribute to the prestige of local gastronomy. Michelin-produced guides to Thailand in partnership with Tourism Association of Thailand (TAT) expect to attract more international visitors.

According to YuthasakSupasorn, TAT governor, the inclusion of Phuket andPhangNga in the Michelin Guidebook will help sustain the momentum of the debut edition of Michelin Guide Bangkok. The guidebook will help promote Thailand as a global gastronomic destination. The 2018 Michelin guidebook includes 17 starred restaurants which is a very small number if you will take into account the 8 million population of Bangkok.

In the lead-up to the guidebook, there were several concerns that the world renowned street foods would not be included because Michelin prefers fine dining with French and Japanese origins. However, the concerns were unfounded because Jay Fai, a vendor won a star.

In the new Michelin guidebook, Phuket will be highlighted as the melting pot for cultural cuisine and as the seaside’s super-fresh seafood destination. The 2019 guidebook will also include Bangkok’s inner zone and provinces within its vicinity like Nonthaburi, PathumThani, NakhomPathom, SamutSakhon and SamutPrakan.

The latest guidebook is part of Michelin’s expansion in Asia. This year, the first-ever Michelin guide will be launched in Taipei. Other Asian destinations with Michelin guidebooks include Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and Tokyo.

Most travellers to Thailand will certainly look for traditional Thai food mainly because it is one the reasons for their visit. However, there is also an option to Thai food through the best restaurant in Chiang Mai that offers delicious food fit for a celebration. While you indulge in the sinfully delicious cuisine, you can soak up the beauty of the environment.
