Hilton To Open Three More Projects In Thailand

Hilton is expanding its foothold on the hospitality industry in Southeast Asia by develop thing 53 more resorts and hotels across the region, with three of them in Thailand.

For many tourists around the world, it is important to book a good and reputable hotel in Ploenchit, Pattaya, Sukhumvit, and other major areas in the country where travellers often go to.

Expansion for Hilton

According to Alan Watts, the president for Asia-Pacific, Hilton is planning to build around 12,000 rooms with seven brands in the group. Thailand is already familiar with the brands Hilton, DoubleTRee, and Conrad, but they are planning to introduce yet another one to the list: Canopy by Hilton. It has a total of 34 resorts and hotels in Southeast Asia, offering 11,000 rooms to its guests all over the region. He adds that in the next three years, three projects are set to open in Thailand: a hotel in Phoenchit called DoubleTree by Hilton Bangkok Ploenchit, and two in Phuket: Hilton Garden Inn Phuket Bang Tao, and Hilton Phuket Patong. They are planning to begin the project in 2019, 2020, and 2021, respectively. They are expecting the industry to grow even more, with the economic developments of neighbouring counties such as China, Indonesia, and India.

What’s in it for Thailand

The boom in tourism has also benefitted Thailand. With more than 38 million visitors in 2017 alone, the industry has shown great promise for the land. Bangkok is planning to open new luxury malls including Iconsiam to draw in even more visitors. Hilton itself has opened Waldorf Astoria in the country, a first in Southeast Asia. Waldorf Astoria Bangkok has 171 rooms for its guests. Aside from the hotel, Magnolia Qualiuty Development Corporation, its developer in the country, also offers luxury condominiums and office space for the region.

Aside from a booming hospitality industry, this can also open up job opportunities for the locals who wish to be part of the Hilton group, or offer their own products or services that the tourists would love and appreciate. It truly is a great opportunity for Thailand to expand its horizons and develop its economy.
