UPS Plans To Partner With Werner Enterprises For “Last-Mile” Services

You can save on freight costs through NZ courier when you ship a parcel domestically in New Zealand. You can compare courier quotes online by entering the parcel collection and delivery details including information on the dimensions and weight of the parcel. From the list of quotes you can choose the discounted shipment service for the parcel delivery.

United Parcel Inc. (UPS.N) is currently into talks with a US-based trucking firm so that they can launch in-home delivery services for large and heavy items like treadmills and couches. UPS wants to take advantage of the growing market segment of online retail

At present, UPS and competitor FedEx are delivering parcels that weigh up to 150 pounds (68.04 kilos) up to the customer’s doorstep. However, both companies do not provide “white glove” services like product assembly and installation. UPS has told Reuters that the company is planning to enter the furniture delivery business which is one of the fastest growing segments of online retail.

UPS will be competing with companies like Amazon, Wayfair and other ecommerce businesses and chains that include Crate and Barrel and big-box stores. A source that has insider information said that UPS is into discussions with Werner Enterprises, a trucking company, to be able to compete in this particular market area by the end of the year. In 2016, Werner launched its “last mile” services and has gradually improved the offering.

Details of a potential partnership between UPS and Werner remain unclear because both companies have refused to comment. According to Noel Perry, Transport Futures economist, the final mile delivery could grow to about $12 billion in the coming decade from $3.7 billion today because the growing population of young consumers is ordering everything online. It is no longer surprising for a young consumer to shop online for mattresses, BBQ grills or dining tables.

Aside from domestic parcel delivery, NZ courier can help you ship your parcel internationally for the least costs. Similar to the domestic delivery service, international delivery service customers will receive heavily discounted quotes with full online tracking so that the customer will know exactly where the parcel is at every step of the way.
